Michael R. Tilghman, Jr. founded Tilghman Atlantic to follow his vision of acquiring and managing underperforming, Class A office properties in key markets. Mr. Tilghman’s primary focus is developing sustainable buildings in urban areas. His niche of expertise is to develop and position large commercial buildings that operate on a centralized grid system. Mr. Tilghman has over 10 years of experience in developing, implementing and overseeing energy sustainability initiatives and Energy Conservation Measures.
Mr. Tilghman’s career in commercial real estate development, real estate investment, and energy efficient and green designs began in the early 1990′s as a principal developer and investment coordinator for the Oceanic Development Corporation. During his tenure with the Oceanic Development Corporation, Mr. Tilghman successfully designed feasibility studies, performed project and financial feasibility analysis, and successful negotiated acquisitions for a $43.5M portfolio.
Over the next 19 years, Mr. Tilghman furthered his expertise by offering executive level support to commercial real estate development firms across the Delaware Valley; successfully negotiating acquisitions based on income streams and future up-side potential; providing oversight and management for portfolios valued at $100M and over; and developing and spearheading implementation of energy efficiency and sustainable development initiatives. During this period of time, Mr. Tilghman discovered his passion for sustainable energy along with his gift to innovate and create technology that aligned with his passion. After forming Tilghman Energy in 2010, Mr. Tilghman has received utility patents on building integrated energy systems tied to inexhaustible sources of energy.
Mr. Tilghman is a member of Zell/ Lurie Wharton Real Estate Institute in Philadelphia, holds a Winslow Township Zoning Board seat, and holds a professional Real Estate Broker License in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
